Stoke City winger Liam Lawrence has splashed out 450 quid on Sir Stanley Matthews badges for every pupil at a local school.
Lawrence made the gesture after visiting the Clarice Cliff Primary School in Fenton.
Lawrence was there to congratulate the children on their fund-raising efforts on behalf of the Sir Stanley Matthews Foundation.
Nigel Johnson, chairman of the foundation, told The Sentinel: "Liam was so taken by the work the children had done, he promised to supply them all with a new Stanley Matthews badge.
"And typical of Liam, he was true to his word and paid for them all to have a badge.
"It's a tremendous gesture and one very much appreciated by both the children and ourselves here at the foundation."
