Stoke City boss Tony Pulis is being linked with Tottenham winger David Bentley.
The People says Pulis is monitoring the situation and is desperate to land Bentley and was preparing to offer £10m - double the club's record transfer outlay.
But Bentley injured his ankle during Saturday's friendly with Bournemouth and Pulis will now wait and see how serious the damage is.
Whether the player would even consider a move to the Potteries is altogether a different story as Bentley would rather join Aston Villa.
