Stoke City youngster Florent Cuvelier proved Walsall's matchwinner last night.
Cuvelier's second goal in three games lifted Walsall out of the relegation zone.
The 19-year-old Belgian, who is on loan from Stoke, seized on hesitancy in the Scunthorpe defence on 34 minutes to nip in and shoot beyond keeper Sam Slocombe.
