Stoke City have welcomed Derby County's interest in defender Ryan Shotton.
The Championship club are looking to sign the 25-year old former Wigan Athletic loanee and Potters boss Mark Hughes suggests it could be a good move for all parties involved.
"If it's Derby I would encourage it because they are a good club looking to get back into the Premier League, which Ryan would want to do himself," said Hughes of the reported interest.
Shotton has been with Stoke since 2005 and has made 70 appearances for the Staffordshire club among loan spells with Altrincham, Tranmere Rovers, Barnsley and the Latics.
