Liverpool have been told to forget about trying for Stoke City goalkeeper Jack Butland.
The Daily Express says Liverpool have been told to look elsewhere by Stoke after considering a £40m offer for Butland.
The Reds have been struggling to find a dependable No.1 with Simon Mignolet and Loris Karius routinely making mistakes between the sticks.
Jurgen Klopp had been keen to acquire Butland but the Potters have dismissed the possibility of a sale and would not even consider a £40m offer.
This will leave the Reds looking elsewhere or hoping for a reliable run from either Mignolet or Karius in the second half of the campaign in a bid to make the top four and win a trophy.
