Stoke City veteran Rory Delap fears his scud missile throw ins have lost their threat.
Delap made his name at the Potters by causing panic among Premier League defences by hurling the ball in at pace.
But Stoke boss Tony Pulis did not start either of his throw-in specialists Delap or Ryan Shotton against Bolton on Sunday.
Delap, 35, said: "The throws haven't worked effectively this year. We've not had much joy from it.
"But it is not what the game's about and we've not got many goals from them. The stats show that.
"I cannot remember how many we've got. Maybe one or two, possibly three, I think we got a couple in the Cup.
"You can go 50 games and not get anything, it's just one of those things."
