Stoke U23 coach Hodges frustrated missing trophy

Stoke City coach Glyn Hodges admits frustration after missing out on silverware this week.

Stoke under-23s were edged out of a tight Final Third Development League Cup final 2-1 against Burnley at Leek Town on Thursday evening.

Hodges told The Sentinel: “It was disappointing really. We've been waiting for the fixture for what seems like forever – we had been ready to play it in March – and it's disappointing.

“We had chances and had enough out there to win it but it wasn't to be.

“You're always looking for more in the final third. We've got players who can produce; Julien got his goal and Hakim and Thibaud are threats.

“But, to be fair, Burnley were hard to break down and it's one of those things."
