Stoke try again for Cardiff winger Ledley

Stoke City are reviving their bid for Cardiff City winger Joe Ledley.

The Mirror says Tony Pulis is battling to sign Ledley on the cheap - two years after his £6m bid was rejected.

Stoke boss Pulis is leading the race to sign Ledley, who is out of contract, and will scrap Celtic, Fulham, Wolves and Blackburn in a summer fight to sign him.

Pulis made a substantial written offer for the Wales international in the summer of 2008 after clinching Stoke's place in the Premier League.

But the Bluebirds turned down the bid and are now facing the prospect of making a massive loss on the 23-year-old.

Cardiff have offered to make Ledley the highest paid player in their history with a bumper new deal and will still demand at least £3m at a tribunal as he is under 24.

Stoke believe they are close to securing a deal for the playmaker at the second attempt - and for significantly less than the cash they offered two seasons ago.
