Stoke to again go for Porto midfielder Imbula

Stoke City are set reignite their interest in Porto's Giannelli Imbula.

Reports suggest the Potters are determined to sign a defensive midfielder in the winter transfer window and are prepared to splash £14.5million on the Frenchman.

Mark Hughes has showed significant interest in Imbula already this season but Stoke were put off by the fact Porto could not decide on a fee for the 23-year-old.

Now it is believed that they have settled on the aforementioned price which will see the former Marseille man make the move to the Britannia Stadium where he will step into the void left by Steven Nzonzi who joined Sevilla last summer.

If the deal does go through, Imbula will become Stoke's record signing, surpassing the £12m they spent on Xherdan Shaqiri in the summer.
