Stoke suffered double deadline Pitroipa, Cattermole failure

Stoke City failed to get a deal for Rennes winger Jonathan Pitroipa over the line yesterday.

The Sentinel says Stoke had been hoping to sign the 27 year-old Burkina Faso winger on loan until the end of the season.

That would have been some consolation after Sunderland pulled the plug on Stoke's £5m signing of midfielder Lee Cattermole earlier in the day.

But the Pitroipa deal also collapsed after Stoke and Rennes failed to agree terms.
