Stoke City are thrashing out personal terms with West Ham United striker Carlton Cole.
The London Evening Standard says Cole's proposed £6million move to Stoke was in the balance today after talks stalled on personal terms.
It is understood that West Ham have accepted Stoke's offer, worth £4m plus another £2m based on appearances, but Cole has still not agreed to the deal.
West Ham, who open their pre-season campaign against Swiss League champions BSC Young Boys in Switzerland tonight, are willing to let Cole go in order to release transfer funds for new manager Sam Allardyce.
