Stoke striker Sidibe determined to recover from latest injury setback

Mamady Sidibe says he'll get over his latest injury at Stoke City.

The striker ruptured an Achilles in August, but hopes to be back well before the end of May.

Sidibe insists he is 'lucky', despite an appalling catalogue of injuries in the last three years, including damaging his cruciate ligament.

The Mali forward almost died after his arm was pushed through a glass window when he was caught up in a post-match riot following an international against Togo.

Sidibe insisted: "I will always laugh and smile because many people have worse problems.

"My mum said that whenever you have a bad game or a bad injury, just remember where you have come from and that you are now paid to play in front of thousands of people.

"When I was 20 I was playing non-League football. I had no car. Sometimes there was no bus at night and I had to walk home.

"I try to think about this and smile. People keep telling me I have had bad luck but I know I am a very lucky guy."
