Stoke City striker Kenwyne Jones missed out on a dream move to Marseille yesterday.

The Daily Mail says Jones's hopes of a move to Marseille have been dashed by Stephane Mbia's move to Queen's Park Rangers.

Stoke were holding out hope that Mbia would join them and allow a swap deal for Jones to go the other way.

The deal also hinged on Remy or Jordan Ayew leaving Marseille.

However, the French transfer window remains open until Tuesday and a deal for Jones could yet be revived.
