Stoke striker Jerome fined but not banned for betting breaches

Stoke City striker Cameron Jerome has been issued with just a fine and not a ban for breaching the FA's betting codes.

An Independent Regulatory Commission has handed down a £50,000 fine, subject to an appeal, but has not suspended him from playing.

"Stoke City's Cameron Jerome has been fined £50,000, subject to any appeal, following an Independent Regulatory Commission hearing," read the FA statement.

"Jerome, who was also severely warned as to his future conduct, admitted a number of breaches of the FA's Betting Rules and requested a personal hearing which took place on Tuesday 13 August 2013.

"The Club wishes to make clear that Jerome has not incurred a ban or suspension."
