Stoke City signing Ryan Shawcross has no regrets leaving Manchester United.

He said: "Mr Ferguson said he was disappointed to lose me, but I wanted first team football.

"I came here on loan at the start of the season and within a month I told my agent I wanted to stay here.

"There was little chance of breaking into the United first team as Rio Ferdinand is the best defender in the world and Nemanja Vidic is superb.

"But I think we've got a good chance of getting into the Premiership here and that is my aim.

"It's my dream to go back to Old Trafford and play there for Stoke and we have a real chance of achieving that."
