Stoke City signing Asmir Begovic turned down Tottenham after bumping into Stipe Pletikosa at the club's training centre!

The Sunday Mirror says the Bosnian stopper was set to finalise a £2million deal to take him to White Hart Lane from Portsmouth when he saw Pletikosa at the club's Chigwell training base.

Spurs had accidentally arranged for both goalkeepers to undergo their medicals at the same time but Begovic recognised the Spartak Moscow keeper and decided to pull out of his move as he felt it showed a lack of faith in him.

The amazing own goal from Tottenham was compounded when Pletikosa, 31, failed his medical and doctors said he would not be able to complete his move because of a long-term knee problem.
