Former West Ham boss David Moyes is wanted by Stoke City.
The Mirror says Moyes is Stoke's No 1 choice to succeed the sacked Paul Lambert.
Lambert's four-month Stoke reign came to an abrupt end during a meeting with the club's owners.
Lambert was told he would not be carrying on when he asked for assurances over his future.
The Potters believe they need a new man to spearhead their drive to win automatic promotion back to the Premier League next season and have identified Moyes.
Moyes, 55, is a free agent after his short-term deal with West Ham ended this week and chairman Peter Coates and his son and vice-chairman John are impressed by his achievements at Everton.
