Stoke's Owen wants Fergie to buy horse for his stable

Michael Owen hopes his former Manchester United boss Sir Alex Ferguson buys a horse to race out of his stables.

Stoke City striker Owen owns Manor House Stables, situated in Malpas, Cheshire, with Tom Dascombe the head trainer of the complex and he has urged retiring United manager Ferguson to purchase a new horse and allow him to race it.

"I texted Sir Alex today to tell him this filly had a good chance," said Owen after he tipped Quatuor to Fergie to win the Manor House Stables Lily Agnes Stakes on Wednesday.

"I've badgered him to have a horse with us for a while now so hopefully he backed it and can spend some of his winnings on a new horse."
