Stoke City boss Tony Pulis's bid to land Jermaine Pennant, 27, on a permanent deal is in danger of being wrecked as Serie A clubs Sampdoria, Napoli and Udinese want the tricky wideman.
Pennant, who also played for Arsenal, Liverpool and Birmingham, is on a season-long loan from Real Zaragoza.
Pulis has already held talks with him over a full-time switch and agreed a £2m fee with the La Liga club. But now the decision is down to Pennant.
