Stoke City have been quick to condemn reports suggesting they are poised to sign a player by the name of Enis Mustafa. The whole reputed £1.5million deal is a fictitious transaction initiated by a bogus agent.
The Potters say an agent operating under the name of Paul Masterton is claiming to have acted for the club in securing the signature of the player.
But no such business has taken place, insist Stoke, and they are warning vulnerable players from being exploited by such false promises and fake agents.
Stoke chief executive Tony Scholes told The Sentinel: "We take such matters very seriously and would urge anyone to be extremely vigilant if they are approached by anyone claiming to act on the club's behalf with regard to transfers or, for that matter, trials."
