Stoke, QPR interest confirmed for non-league star Dan Thompson

Stoke City and QPR are among clubs keen on Hampton & Richmond youngster Dan Thompson.

Thompson has already had trials with Portsmouth.

"Dan is being touted around at the moment, he has been pulled from pillar to post," manager Mark Harper told The News.

"He has been trialling at a number of clubs in the week and then been available for me at weekends. I have no doubts he can go all the way. This lad is the full package - it just needs somebody to look at him and take him on.

"Stoke showed a keener interest than anybody. It would be unfair to say what they offered but it was not suitable.

"They are continuing to monitor Dan's progress, as are Newcastle, QPR and Palace, who he has gone to recently. It's no surprise they're taking an interest, he is a very good prospect for the future. The lad is around 6ft 4in, has a good work-rate, is a good link-up man and a good target man who brings people into play really well.

"Most of all, I think his attitude is superb. He is great to work with. We had Dan just before his 15th birthday. He then came through our youth development and was the one that stood out. He can only go one way."
