Stoke to put new signings through mini preseason

Stoke City will take advantage of the international break to bring their new signings up to required fitness levels.

Potters boss Tony Pulis revealed that Eidur Gudjohnsen and Salif Diao, who returned to the Club yesterday by signing a two-year deal, will be put through a "mini pre-season" over the next twelve days, while he will also assess Jermaine Pennant's fitness level.

"We're looking for Eidur and Jermaine to come in and make an impact, so at least we have these next 12 days to get them ready," he told Stoke's website.

"What part they have to play in the Aston Villa match will be determined by how much work we can do with them between now and then."
