Stoke City have reportedly opened discussions with Scottish club Celtic in regards to midfielder Liam Lawrence.

The Stoke Sentinel suggests that formal negotiations between the two clubs have begun for a £2million deal for the 28-year old.

The Republic of Ireland international has been with the Potters since 2007 when he signed a permanent deal after being on loan from Sunderland.
