Stoke not planning immediate Brit expansion

Stoke City have confirmed that they will not begin work to increase the capacity at the Britannia Stadium in the immediate future.

The Britannia Stadium was opened in 1997 and has a capacity of 28,384.

However, that number has been reduced to 27,598 since Stoke's promotion to the Premier League in 2008 due to segregation.

Director Richard Smith told BBC Radio Stoke: "We've made no secret of the fact that we've been looking into the feasibility of expanding the stadium.

"At the moment, we have no immediate plans to expand the stadium but we are giving it due consideration."
