Stoke City No2 Dave Kemp says a deeper squad will bring greater consistency this season.
Balancing Premier League football with European action in the Europa League will be no problem as Tony Pulis' side has the strength in depth to compete.
Kemp told talkSPORT: "There have been occasions when [Tony Pulis and myself] have looked behind us and thought we are struggling today on the bench.
"If you look across at Chelsea or Liverpool and whoever they have got on the bench it is frightening. But today if we're in trouble we've got people to come on.
"We've moved this club forward inch-by-inch since we've been here and we're now in a position where we've got a strong bench.
"We want to be strong on the pitch and strong on the bench so we're competing and when we play a Liverpool we feel we can do something."
