Stoke City No2 Dave Kemp is convinced captain Ryan Shawcross is set for a long England career.
Shawcross' place for the Brazil fixture was taken by Manchester United defender Chris Smalling following his return from injury.
"Everybody here would have been disappointed for Ryan after missing out on this squad," said Stoke's assistant manager Dave Kemp.
"But he shouldn't concern himself too much.
"I'm sure he will do well enough in the future to get himself another chance."
