Stoke City No2 Dave Kemp has assured fans new signings will be made.
Only Jonathan Woodgate has arrived from Tottenham so far this summer.
"The wheels are turning for sure in our transfer dealings but that doesn't mean anything is done and dusted," Kemp told the club's official website.
"The hardest part of any transfer is closing the deal, and this is the stage that we are at right now.
"If you look around the board, there haven't been too many players making moves as of yet, they are biding their time and seeing what the best deal they can get is.
"We are in the market though, we are chasing players and hopefully we will have one or two areas addressed, certainly in time to face Chelsea in two weeks' time."
