Stoke City boss Tony Pulis is moving for Manchester City striker Jo Alves.
The News of the World says the Brazilian, 23, can leave Eastlands after scoring just once following a then club record £11million move from CSKA Moscow in 2008.
Pulis wants to take Jo on a season's loan after being priced out of a move for West Ham's Carlton Cole.
Jo ended last season at Galatasary after going AWOL during a loan spell at Everton but he has been involved in City's pre-season tour of the United States.
