Stoke City midfielder Glenn Whelan says Mark Hughes has helped revive his career.
The stand-in skipper is loving every minute of life under Hughes.
He told the Daily Star Sunday: "I think that with a new manager coming in and with his style, it maybe helps me to show my qualities a little more.
"Obviously, Tony had his own way of playing which was incredibly successful.
"I had to play my game to suit that style. If I didn't then I wouldn't have been in the team.
"I like to get the ball down and keep possession. But at the same time I am always going to be one who enjoys putting a foot in and relishing a battle."
