Stoke City midfielder Charlie Adam has failed in an appeal against a Football Association charge of violent conduct and will serve a three-match suspension with immediate effect. The 28-year-old Scotland international was charged after appearing to stamp on Arsenal's Olivier Giroud last Saturday.
Stoke chief executive Tony Scholes tells the club's website: "I am extremely disappointed for the effect that this is going to have on Charlie and on the football club."
