Stoke manager Hughes happy with Potters win

Stoke City boss Mark Hughes has expressed his delight at the Potters' victory over Southampton on the final day of the Premier League season.

Stoke City had been enduring a poor run of form recently but the Potters managed to end their campaign on a high with a 1-0 victory over Southampton at the St. Mary's Stadium on Sunday and the three points picked up means that they finished on a respectable 13th place in the Premier League table.

Manager Mark Hughes was left very happy at his side's victory over the Saints and explained that the win was just rewards for the strong performance which Stoke put in during the encounter.

Hughes told reporters: "I felt it was a fully deserved victory this afternoon to be perfectly honest with you, it was a really good honest performance from my guys.

"It wasn't easy out there, especially after a long hard season, but the guys dug deep and earned a very good victory today.

"On other occasions this season we have played well and not been rewarded for that, but that wasn't the case today, thankfully."
