Stoke City are ready to make an offer to off contract Manchester United striker Michael Owen.

The Mail on Sunday says Owen's chances of joining Stoke depend on his willingness to accept a pay-as-you-play deal.

Although Owen, 32, would add star quality to Tony Pulis's squad and be viewed as a handy impact substitute, the club will not offer him a guaranteed bumper contract because of his injury record.
