Stoke locals Moult, Shotton inspired by FA Cup run

Stoke City local lads Louis Moult and Ryan Shotton admits they've been inspired by the club's run to the FA Cup final.

Defender Shotton, aged 22, helped Stoke reach the final by playing in the third-round game and replay against Cardiff City.

Striker Moult, aged 19, also travelled with the squad on Saturday, having played his football on loan at Bradford and Mansfield this season.

Shotton told The Sentinel: "We did brilliantly to get to the final when no one expected us to.

"I would like to think we have raised our profile by getting there. But it was just amazing being at Wembley, I kept pinching myself."

Moult also said: "I was born in Penkhull, have never moved out of Stoke, and my grandad lives around the corner from where the old Victoria Ground was.

"Seeing our fans at Wembley and being around the atmosphere was brilliant.

"On the day the better team won and the result hurts, but our supporters were brilliant and I could see from their passion how appreciative they are of how far we have come as a club. I am sure the lads are grateful for that."
