Stoke linked with club record pursuit of Porto midfielder Imbula

Stoke City are ready to splash the cash in order to secure the services of Porto midfielder Giannelli Imbula, according to reports from the Daily Mirror.

Stoke are looking to strengthen their squad during the January transfer window as they push for a European finish this season and it was recently reported that manager Mark Hughes had his eyes set on signing Imbula.

Initial claims had been made that Stoke were hesitant at making a move for Imbula due to Porto's £15million asking price for the former Marseille man but the Potters are ready to splash as much as £19million to land the 23-year-old according to recent reports.
