Stoke City legend Lou Macari believes that Mark Hughes is currently facing the pressure ahead of the Potters' clash against Southampton on Saturday.

Stoke's poor start to the season was compounded following their 4-0 home defeat against Chelsea on Saturday and Macari believes that Hughes and his players will be feeling the pressure when his side square off against the Saints at the Bet365 stadium this weekend.

Macari said: "Stoke's players will know they must show they can handle the pressure when they welcome Southampton on Saturday.

"There's no real pressure on you when an Arsenal or Manchester United come to town, or when you face reigning champions Chelsea with most of your defence missing.

"But against Southampton, a team they can beat, are expected to beat and now need to beat, the pressure is well and truly on."
