Stoke City boss Tony Pulis hopes to land Arsenal striker Nicklas Bendtner for £9 million.
The Telegraph says Pulis is weighing up a club record offer for Bendtner after the Denmark international's representatives made contact over the weekend, a potential deal that would eclipse the fee paid out to Sunderland for Kenwyne Jones last summer.
Bendtner will be allowed to leave Arsenal this summer after enduring a difficult season last term, scoring only twice in the Premier League. The 23-year-old became a target of frustrated fans at the Emirates and Arsene Wenger excused him from Arsenal's tour of the Far East to sort out his future.
Borussia Dortmund and Sporting Lisbon have both shown interest but have been deterred by Bendtner's transfer fee and wages, but Pulis is considering the option of offering him a fresh start at the Britannia Stadium and the chance to stay in England.
