Stoke City goalkeeper Thomas Sorensen suffered a dislocated elbow in the 7-0 mauling handed out to them by Chelsea on Sunday.
The 33-year old Denmark international was hurt trying to stop Salomon Kalou score his second goal on the half-hour mark and had to be replaced by Asmir Begovic.
His injury was confirmed by Potters boss Tony Pulis who said Sorensen could be in doubt for the World Cup if he requires surgery.
"He's dislocated his elbow," revealed Pulis. "We're hoping they can pop it back in and he does not need an operation.
"If he needs an operation he'll struggle for the World Cup. I've not seen the challenge."
