Stoke City goalkeeper Thomas Sorensen admits he came close to joining a Champions League club in the past.
The Dane, 38, has been linked with Bayern Munich, Juventus and Manchester United during his career.
"It's been close, but it came to nothing.
"When interest (from big clubs) has been there, it has been the case that the club I have been on contract with, has refused to sell me," Sorensen told bold.dk.
"It may well be that a switch had gone through, if I had refused to train and upset a lot of people.
"But I need to look at myself in the mirror. I would not have been able to if I had behaved like an a**hole."
