Stoke City goalkeeper Thomas Sorensen is ready to battle Asmir Begovic for the No1 spot next season.
Sorensen is not letting the World Cup take his eye off the ball when it comes to domestic competition in the shape of Begovic.
"At the end of the day, it's the manager's decision but I am number one at present," he told The Sentinel. "It's important to have competition and it's something we both relish.
"Asmir is hard-working and a good guy. He knows he's young and has things to learn, but come the future, he will be one of the top goalkeepers in the country.
"He's 22 or 23, so he's still raw in some respects, but he's got the credentials. Experience counts for a lot and definitely helped me. It's all about playing games.
"You can get as good as you can get on the training field, but it's not the same as playing under pressure and making more right decisions than wrong decisions."
