Stoke keeper Grant: Leicester star Schmeichel always compared to his great father

Stoke City keeper Lee Grant says that Leicester City star Kasper Schmeichel will always be compared to his father - Manchester United legend Peter Schmeichel.

Schmeichel Jnr won the Premier League title with the Foxes last season, and has continued his strong individual form this campaign.

He saved two penalties as the Foxes defeated Sevilla in the last-16 of Champions League, creating history by advancing to the quarter-finals of Europe's elite competition.

Grant, who will face Schmeichel in the Premier League this weekend, says that he would understand if Kasper doesn't like comparisons with his father as he is now a top-quality player himself.

"His skin probably crawls every time he hears himself talked about in the shadow of his father," said the Potters goalkeeper.

"But it's something that goes hand-in-hand for him because his father was one of the greatest.

"Kasper, certainly over the last couple of years, has established himself as one of the top goalkeepers in this division.

"People are talking about his save against West Ham and the resemblance it bears to his father's style. He's a top goalkeeper who has ability to make great saves and that comes on pure instinct.

"Unfortunately, his father has been there and done it before and so he's always compared to his dad, but they are two very, very good goalkeepers."
