England U21 coach Gareth Southgate has named Stoke City goalkeeper Jack Butland as his captain.

The 20-year-old has joined Championship side Barnsley on loan and continues to be a key player in Southgate's international set up.

Southgate said: "Jack will be the captain, his standing in the squad is high and he's one of our most experienced players."
