Stoke keeper Butland aims to impress Hughes

England U21 goalkeeper Jack Butland hopes to impress new Stoke City boss Mark Hughes.

Butland signed for Stoke in January before being loaned back to Birmingham City for the remainder of last term.

He said: "It is a new club for me and I am looking forward to it next year.

"I didn't get the chance to play under Tony. This is a new chance for everyone. It starts with me here (in Israel) and then trying to impress the manager when I get back.

"I think it is a very good appointment. He has managed well at other clubs. Tony Pulis has done a very good job but this is a new direction for the club."
