Stoke keeper Begovic full of praise for manager Hughes

Stoke City goalkeeper Asmir Begovic says he enjoyed his first season under manager Mark Hughes last term.

He attributes much of the feel-good factor to his new club boss after enjoying another fine campaign between the sticks.

"I've enjoyed every single moment of it from the first day he walked through the door," Begovic enthused to The Sentinel.

"We've loved the theories he has, the way he wants us to play the game and the kind of support he gives us.

"He really likes us to express ourselves and try new things, and also the support he gives us, and if mistakes happen, then so be it. He doesn't shy away from those kind of things.

"If we can take the momentum from this season into next season we can hopefully achieve even more," added Begovic, still proud of reaching ninth place and hitting 50 points for the first time in the Premier League.

He says his own game has improved all round, but particularly when it comes to short-range distribution.

"My experience is getting better and my understanding of the game is getting better.

"The gaffer wanted me to distribute the ball a lot more to start attacks and I think my understanding of that part of the game has gotten a lot better."
