Stoke to keep relationship with relocating Austin Aztex

Stoke City are maintaining their sister relationship with the Austin Aztex.

A United Kingdom led consortium has acquired the Austin Aztex's USL franchise which means the team will move to Orlando for the start of the 2011 season.

City Director Phil Rawlins, who was founder of the Austin Aztex and is the President of the Club, said that it had been a tough decision to make such a big switch.

He said: "I know the new investors very well; they are football people and have been interested in working with us for some time.

"They like what we have achieved on the field and in the community, but their investment was contingent upon the team relocating, citing Austin's lack of a soccer specific stadium with any corporate facilities, the inability to sell alcohol at games and the geographical isolation of the team within the new USL-Pro League."

Former Stoke and Everton great Adrian Heath will retain his job as head coach with the Aztex.
