Stoke hero Allen delighted with deserved draw at Man Utd

Joe Allen was thrilled with Stoke City's 1-1 draw at Manchester United on Sunday.

The Potters frustrated the Red Devils at Old Trafford to eventually pick a vital point which sees them move onto three from their opening seven matches.

Midfielder Allen scored an equaliser in the 82nd minute after Anthony Martial had struck for United 13 minutes prior and the Welshman was in a buoyant mood after the match.

"When you come to Old Trafford you are not going to get many chances. It's a well-earned point for us," he told BT Sport.

"You can see the effort. We have not been picking up many points but you can see the effort."

Allen, who has scored two in two games, added on Stoke City Player: "It's great to get that goal after going behind. To get a point is a really positive day for the club.

"It's not often I can say I've done that in my career so hopefully it breeds some confidence. They haven't been the prettiest goals but they all count and hopefully I can get a few more as the season goes on.

"Today's performance speaks for itself, but I think the two previous to that were really good performances in their own way.

"Of course the results didn't quite happen but I think the fans and players alike can see that we are moving in the right direction now and it's only a matter of time before we start picking up points and climbing up that table."
