Stoke City goalkeeper Jack Butland insists England are going to the World Cup to win it.
Butland, vying for the No.1 spot with Jordan Pickford and Nick Pope, says Gareth Southgate's young squad will not be burdened by the failures in past major tournaments.
“We're not going there with heads down, hoping that things go well," said Butland. “We want to go there, chests out, saying: 'We're England and we're going to do some damage.'
“We don't want to have this attitude where we're happy to just scrape through or pick up a point. We want to win games. I think this squad has got the ability to do that, the humility to do that and also that arrogance that you need to have.
“If we had a mentality as a group where you settle for less, you don't achieve anything."
