Stoke face Villa battle for Spurs midfielder Jenas

Stoke City face a battle to land Tottenham midfielder Jermaine Jenas.

The Daily Mail says Jenas is still on Aston Villa's list of possibles and would like the chance of a move to a side that will compete immediately for Europe and give him a platform to regain his England squad place.

The fact he is English also makes him a more attractive commodity but Tottenham's valuation of £9m for a 27-year-old who has barely figured on a regular basis is prohibitive.

Jenas, of course, could stay at Tottenham and become part of their Champions League squad but a fresh start seems to be the preferred choice on all fronts.
