L'Equipe says the defender-come-defensive midfielder, aged 23, has been previously linked with a £2m move to Everton while he has family connections with Marseille.
Now the Potters are reported to be in the chase, along with Sevilla, Borussia Dortmund and Borussia Mönchengladbach.
