Stoke City chief executive Tony Scholes remains hopeful of tying down midfielder Steven Nzonzi to a new contract at the Britannia Stadium.
Reports suggest that Nzonzi, who is in his last year of his current deal, is looking for a move elsewhere this summer with the likes of Arsenal, Liverpool and Tottenham showing interest.
However, Scholes is desperate for the 26-year old Frenchman to commit himself to the Potters after enjoying his best season for the Staffordshire outfit last season.
"In terms of Steven, and other members of the squad, we are talking and are in constant touch with the representatives and the players themselves," Scholes told the Stoke Sentinel.
"Steven's a great footballer, and obviously player of the year, and we would dearly love to keep him but we will see.
"We don't want to be losing players of quality like Steven but that's not always in our hands."
