Stoke eager for Martins Indi to stay put

Stoke City are eager to turn Bruno Martins Indi's loan move into a permanent one during the January transfer window.

The 24-year-old, who joined the Potters on a season-long loan from Porto in the summer, has impressed manager Mark Hughes with his performances this season.

"He's done really well", Hughes said after his side suffered a 3-1 defeat to Arsenal on Saturday.

"I have to say that, since he's been here, whenever he's gone up against quality, he's acquitted himself really well more often than not.

"He's a great guy around the place and he's beyond his years. He's only 24 years of age, but has an old head on his shoulders.

"He wants to do well in the Premier League and we want that to be with us if we can."
